Fender Guitar
In 1951, Leo Fender introduced the Broadcaster. This guitar was the original solid-body Fender guitar that would lead to such legends as the Telecaster, Stratocaster, and a host of other guitars and manufacturers. Mr. Fender ran his business himself until 1965, at which time he sold the company to CBS.
The Fender guitar quite literally helped build the modern music industry. The Stratocaster became the guitar of choice for rock musicians throughout the 1960’s and 1970’s. Country musicians and “chicken pickers” fell in love with the Telecaster from the time it was first introduced.
During the 1980’s, the Fender guitar suffered from a lack of dedication to quality by the manufacturer. However, the company was purchased by a small group of true enthusiasts and by the 1990’s the Fender name was being rescued. Today’s Fender’s are once again among the finest guitars on the market.
