Custom Guitars
Custom guitars tend to be quite expensive, and as such they are generally only owned by professional or well-to-do musicians. Depending on the attributes of the particular guitar, many of these customs can cost several thousand dollars. However, for most professionals, the high quality materials and workmanship are well worth the expense.
Unlike mass-produced, store bought versions, custom guitars are usually made by hand, one at a time. This ensures that the quality is unmatched by anything offered through the average music store. It also allows specific requirements of the player to be incorporated into the overall design of the instrument.
Custom guitars can be made to mimic the look of the legends, such as the Stratocaster or Les Paul, or can be completely unique in design. It is not unusual for a luthier to produce a one of a kind instrument, designed specifically for one player. Many of these are almost sculptural in nature.
